Financialforce has named Fred Studer, who was a long-time Microsoft employee and then head of NetSuite's marketing, as its first chief marketing officer. His hiring comes on the heels of the naming of Tod Nielsen as CEO. FinancialForce says the appointment follows a year in which it grew by 40 percent to a $100-million annual run rate.

The current message to RealWorld users on the Passport Software website is a testament to how long software can endure. Great Plains acquired the former RealWorld early in 2000. Great Plains killed the product, which served as a lesson of what not to do with acquired software. During that time, the RealWorld code lived on as Passport Business Solutions.

An investment group that pledged to oust Shirley Singleton, CEO of Edgewater Technology, has kept its promise. The board of directors has named one of its members, Jeffrey L. Rutherford, as chairman, interim president and CEO. An investor group, which had vowed to replace Singleton and the company's chief technology officer David Clancey, won a proxy fight in February.

According to the job posting on the company's website, the person Sage hopes to replace departing Santiago Solanas is supposed to "Transform Sage's brand position so it is positioned as "cool" and innovative and seen as a thought leader in its target geographies".

Sage has confirmed that Jacqueline de Rojas, managing director of Sage U.K., Ireland and Northern Europe, is leaving the company. That comes on the heels of the move by global chief marketing officer Santiago Solanas to Cisco this month. While Solanas was a 10-year employee of the software company, de Rojas had taken her position only in July.

Infor reported net income of $37.6 million for the third quarter ended January 31, compared to a loss of $44.2 million a year ago. And revenue rose to $706.6 million in the most recently end period, an increase of 5.2 percent from $671.6 million in last year's corresponding period.

Bonnie McWilliams Nagayama, who was well-known in the QuickBooks community, has passed away. President of the CPA firm McWilliams & Associates, Nagayama was a top Intuit reseller, according to Doug Sleeter, founder and former head of the Sleeter Group, who called her, "A good friend of mine and someone who helped everyone around her."
