Pam Modrich, AKA Enterprise Solutions AKA Enterprise Solutions has hired Pam Modrich as VP of client relations. The position is a new one for the New York, N.Y.-based Dynamics reseller. In the role, Modrich manages existing client account managers and also develops and leads client relations strategy, deliverables and sales for the Dynamics AX/GP/CRM and BI customer base.

EPICOR NAMES POPE SALES SVP

Lisa Pope, Epicor SoftwareEpicor Software has named Lisa Pope as EVP of sales in the Americas. The company says Pope's hiring is related to its move to the cloud. She will be based in the company's relatively new headquarters in Austin, Texas, which houses CEO Joe Cowan and CFO Kathy Crusco.

One reseller described market conditions as reflecting "channel turmoil". That includes Microsoft's heavy cloud push with Dynamics 365, Oracle's purchase of NetSuite and Sage's continuing efforts to remake itself while its cast of characters changes rapidly.

Randy JohnstonXero is testing the use of machine learning in its cloud-based financial software. The New Zealand-based company says the capability with be generally available this year. Machine learning looks like a major buzz word for the year. H&R Block made it prominent with its advertising about the use of IBM's Watson computer in the preparation of tax returns.

QAD SEEKING HELP ON BACKLOG

Karl Lopker, QADQAD wants to engage third parties to do more of its implementations. The manufacturing software company also said it is putting more emphasis on use of smaller organizations for those services. The comments came as QAD released financial results for the year ended January 31.

SERVICES BIG IN COLUMBUS' YEAR

Thomas Honoré, ColumbusGrowth in service revenue was a major factor in financial results for Columbus for the year ended December 31. The Copenhagen, Denmark-based reseller this week reported a 25-per cent rise in net profit after tax on a 6-percent increase in revenue. A major factor in the improved services segment was increased chargeable hours in operations in Norway and the United States.
