Lisa Pope, Epicor SoftwareEpicor Software has named Lisa Pope as EVP of sales in the Americas. The company says Pope's hiring is related to its move to the cloud. She will be based in the company's relatively new headquarters in Austin, Texas, which houses CEO Joe Cowan and CFO Kathy Crusco.

Machine learning looks like a major buzz word for the year. H&R Block made it prominent with its advertising about the use of IBM's Watson computer in the preparation of tax returns.
