SAP rode the cloud and SAP4/Hana to a 20-percent increase in earnings for the year ended December 31 on a 6-percent rise in revenue. These are preliminary results and the German software vendor will report final result and hold its earnings webcast later.

Dell Boomi has hired David Tavolaro as VP of business development. In its announcement, Round Rock, Texas-based Boomi said, "Tavolaro is responsible for advancing Boomi's fast-growing global partner channel, which has grown more than fifty percent in the last year."

One of the most interesting changes to the 2017 show calendar has been the expansion of QuickBooks Connect. Until this year, the show highlighting Intuit's low-cost accounting software has been a one-site affair held in San Jose, Calif., where this year's edition will be held November 15-17.
