ARXIS SIGNS WITH SUGARCRM

VARS INTO THE CLOUD

Lindy Antonelli, AccessTekEvidence is building that part of the channel is not buying Microsoft’s cloud strategy. One example is long-time Dynamics VAR, Lindy Antonelli of Chicago whose Access Teknologies this year sold its Dynamics GP customer base to Sikich to concentrate on the Intacct line. A long-time SL VAR said he was being forced to consider the cloud because of Microsoft's lack of progress and is looking at Intacct and Acumatica.

HIGHTOWER END LOOMING

Jeff Rosengarden, Hightower Hightower, which has been an important Sage reseller and developer, appears to rapidly moving toward an end. Company employees were asked to go home for five to 10 days, given boxes for packing personal possessions, and instructed to call for further information. The Internal Revenue Service has filed a lien against the company and reports are that its bank has pulled the plug. Via an email, Hightower has now told customers "Effective today, Friday March 23, 2012, SWK will be handling all HighTower client support, as well as supporting resellers of HighTower enhancements."

DELTEK FOUNDER DIES

Donald deLaskiDonald deLaski, who cofounded Deltek in 1983, died on March 9 at the age of 80. According to Deltek's website, deLaksi provided $100,000 in capital to fund the programming effort to write the first versions of the company's software. Deltek said deLaski had battled asthma all his life and died of lung disease.

INFOR: 110 NEW RESELLERS SINCE JUNE

Jeff Abbott, InforInfor says it has signed 110 new resellers since the Infor Partner Network launched in June. And the company says its target is 400 new reseller partnerships over the next three years. Infor intends to recruit in all regions of the world. For a company that has not always been channel friendly, the message was extremely warm and fuzzy.

MICROSOFT GOING MULTI-PLATFORM

Kirill Tatarinov, MicrosoftOne of the signs of change was Kirill Tatarinov standing before room full of press people and commenting, "I've never seen so many Apple laptops in one room." Then there was Craig Dewar starting his presentation at about mobility capabilities of Dynamics CRM on an iPad. That highlighted this week's keynote at the Convergence conference by Microsoft COO Kevin Turner that the company is going to support multiple platforms and devices.

E2B PICKS UP SUGARCRM

E2b Teknologies joins the parade of Sage resellers picking up SugarCRM. The Chardon, Ohio-based reseller was announced as the first Sugar VAR in Ohio. E2b carries Sage 500 and also sells Epicor 9. The move broadens the dealer's CRM line of business It was already carrying Sage's SalesLogix and SageCRM. It also handles Anytime Collect, an accounts receivable and credit and collections package. MICROSOFT REAL CLOUD OR NOT?

Kevin Turner, MicrosoftDuring a keynote session at the Convergence user conference, Microsoft's COO, Kevin Turner, pointed to his company's ability to serve Dynamics customers via private, pubic and hybrid clouds. At a press briefing about plans for Dynamics NAV, the company's Dan Brown noted the company's more frequent release schedule.

TRIBRIDGE MASTER VAR GOALS MODEST

Tribridge, one of three Dynamics Master VARs, has some modest goals for signing sales affiliates under the new channel program. The Tampa, Fla.-based company, which just signed its first affiliate, is interviewing a handful of prospects at Convergence, the Dynamics user conference, according to Jeff Lynn, the VP who leads the program “We are not in the Master VAR game as a volume play,” Lynn said during an interview at the show.
