Just when I was beginning to wonder what has happened with the Master VAR program, Microsoft has scheduled web seminars about the topic. Three Master VARs got separate days this week to pitch their programs. The word "wonder" was used because of the three, Tribridge of Tampa, Fla., has signed one Sales Affiliate and Socius, based in Dublin, Ohio, also one since the program launched in January.

Sage North America has released BusinessWorks Accounting 2012 with the latest version featuring integrated credit card payments, customizable general ledger financial reports, simplified invoicing, and improved tax reporting. Credit card processing is provided through Sage Exchange and Sage Payment Solutions.

DELTEK READIES CLOUD PRODUCTS

While Deltek reported results for the first quarter ended March 31 and had a 16-percent rise in product revenue, it is useful to focus on what’s coming to market. That includes Maconomy SaaS on the 2012 schedule. And the Herndon, Va.-based company next month will deliver a SaaS based version of Vision that it expects to reach SMBs in the professional services market.
QURIUS TURNS TO LOSS

Qurius, a Dynamics reseller based in Belgium, swung to a loss for the first quarter ended March 31 compared to net income a year ago. That came as revenue for the most recently ended period fell by 13.2 percent. The company lost about $842,000 compared to earnings of roughly $1.4 million a year earlier. Revenue dropped to about $24 million. Numbers are translated from euros. The company blamed delays in major products for the downturn. Qurius also employed more quota carrying staff (presumably the meaning of fee earners) in all operations this replaced consultants and as a result the company expects higher margins this year.

THREE RESELLERS OPT FOR SERENIC

Serenic, which markets the Navigator nonprofit accounting system, has named three new resellers. And after last year's signing of some international resellers, this group was notable because they were all American. These include Stanley Stuart Yoffee & Hendrix of Maitland, Fla., which had carried Serenic's Human Capital Management Solutions for several years.

NETSUITE INKS FOUR VARS

NetSuite has signed four new resellers and during this week's first-quarter earnings webcast, CEO Zach Nelson said there would be more soon. In his usual charitable tone towards competitors, Nelson said, "It's close to a stampede in the Microsoft and Sage VAR channel to move to NetSuite."

NetSuite reported results for the first quarter ended March 31 this week with many of its usual themes. It had a net loss on a GAAP basis but a big improvement in non-GAAP net income. And CEO Zach Nelson took his usual swings at the competition.

BIZ BYDESIGN WINNING BIG SITES

The repositioning of SAP's Business ByDesign application up market is apparently going well. In a webcast regarding SAP's fourth-quarter results, the company pointed to success in that arena. "ByDesign is gaining further traction among larger customers," co-CEO Jim Hagemann-Snabe said during the discussion.

EXACT REVS UP; LICENSE SALES OFF

Exact has reported a 5.3-percent growth of EBITDA on a 3.8-percent increase in revenue for the first quarter ended March 31. But that was driven by increases in maintenance and service revenue with income from license sales down. There was also a sharp increase in revenue from Exact Online, which is not sold outside the Benelux countries.
