MIBAR.NET GETS TRUECOMMERCE AWARD

Bart Nachimow, Mibar.netReseller Mibar.net has been named 2012 Reseller of the Year for EDI solutions for Microsoft Dynamics GP customers by the TrueCommerce EDI Solutions Group. TrueCommerce, which is owned by HighJump Software, said the award is based on overall sales, professionalism, participation and customer feedback. Based in New York City, Mibar operates in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Connecticut and is led by president Bart Nachimow.

FIRST TECH BUY BUOYS COLUMBUS

ColumbusColumbus’ North American revenues shot up 50.7 percent for the year ended December 31 with a healthy contribution from the purchase of First Tech Direct in March. The Danish Dynamics reseller reported North American EBITDA of just under $3 million, a 17.2-percent rise from 2011 while North American revenue hit about $183.3 million. In its 2012 annual report, Columbus was sparse on North American numbers commenting only that “a satisfactory organic growth has been realized in North America.”

SAGE'S GENERAL MANAGER RANKS THIN

But it suddenly seemed obvious that the place that has been hit by changes is the general manager section. If you have not visited the Sage leadership page, it has two sections - the executive team and the general managers. MARGINS RANKLE DYNAMICS VARS

Doug Kennedy, MicrosoftReports from the partner Q&A at Microsoft Convergence had VP Doug Kennedy acknowledging that there is a great deal of unhappiness in the channel. But whatever steps are taken in that direction, Microsoft seem unlikely to address the major complaint, plummeting margins under the new partner agreement. During the course of the conference, several resellers said their margins had gone from 50 percent to 20 percent. “Microsoft drove me away,” said one who was attending the Acumatica reception.

EPICOR SUES CONSULTING FIRM

 Vivian Keena, Alternative Technology SolutionsEpicor Software has sued Alternative Technology Solutions alleging infringement of Epicor's copyright and intellectual property. Epicor also says that Aliso Viejo, Calif.-based ATS is falsely holding itself out as an authorized reseller and seeks actual and punitive damages. At Microsoft Convergence, a member of the Dynamics channel who knows Alternative has a high regard for that company’s CEO Vivian Keena and said the company has made a living fixing “screwed up” implementations of Epicor 9.

ACUMATICA PICKS CFO

Jeff Wilson, AcumaticaOnline vendor Acumatica continues to build its executive team with the naming of Jeff Wilson as CFO. Wilson had been CFO of Microvision, a Redmond, Wash.-based company since August 1991. It is merely the latest in a series of executive hirings over the last year. And just since the beginning of 2013, Kirkland, Wash.-based Acumatica has hired a VP of engineering, a VP of partner solutions and promoted its COO to CEO.

TRIBRIDGE SIGNS TWO AFFILIATES

Tribridge logoTribridge, which has been lagging in the Master VAR game, has signed two sales affiliates. The Tampa, Fla.-based Dynamics reseller signed its second and third sales affiliates after having picked up only one other in the program’s first year. Joining the network are CBR Technology and MIC Business Solutions. There are three Master VARs in the United States, including the SBS Group and Socius, with another 10 or so in other countries.

XERO TO BUILD OUT FUNCTIONS

 Rod Drury, Xero Xero says 2013 is a year in which it will broaden functionality in its online accounting software. In a prepared comment about recent rises in stock price, CEO Rod Drury told investors that, "In 2013 Xero expects to complete the breadth of functionality to fully compete with the incumbent desktop software providers while delivering significant new innovations. A key focus for the business for the year ahead is building out the global in-market teams." Read more...

AVALARA NAMES ROSTOV CFO

David E. Rostov, Avalara Avalara has named David E. Rostov as its CFO. The position has been vacant since 2010. Before joining the Bainbridge Island, Wash.-based sales-and-use tax company, Rostov was managing partner at Lighthouse eDiscovery where he worked from January 2006 until taking his new job. Prior to that, he was CFO at Infospace from January 2003 through January 2006.

, who heads Microsoft Business Solutions, says the question of whether the next iteration of Microsoft's cloud initiative has true cloud products is not a meaningful one. Microsoft said at this weeks' Convergence conference in New Orleans that, "Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 and Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013 will be delivered in the cloud through partners hosted on Windows Azure in June 2013."
