DELTEK NAMES KRONE CFO

Michael Krone has moved up from the position of corporate controller to become CFO of Deltek. Krone has held that job since he joined the company in August 2008. It’s a move that keeps leadership at the project accounting company one with a good deal of experience within it. Krone replaces Mike Corkery, who moved up to the CEO’s job in February.

Picking up speed in the Master VAR game, Socius has signed Abacus Information Systems as a sales affiliate. It was the second affiliate announced by the Dublin, Ohio-based reseller in February. Last week, Socius said it had enrolled Maner Costerisan Business Solutions & Technology, which is part of Lansing, Mich.-based accounting firm Maner Costerisan.

Brad Wilson, who left Microsoft, a year ago, has become CEO at Emailvision. He served seven years as worldwide general manager of the Dynamics CRM business. Wilson, who started at Microsoft in February 2005, led the product effort on a fast pace. His LinkedIn page sums it up with "Grew revenue by 40%+ CAGR for 6 ½ years, with double-digit YoY growth every quarter." Wilson takes over from founder and CEO Nick Heys and will continue to be based in London and Paris.

Exact has turned its products in North America into independent businesses. The products lines - Macola, Max, JobBoss, Longview and Lohn - each have their own P&Ls and management. "We decided to have five independent businesses. Each has a managing director and they are arms length with Exact,” CEO Erik van der Meijden in last week’s webcast regarding 2012 results.
QLIK TECH NET DROPS 57 PERCENT

Net income for Qlik Technologies, which markets the QlikView business intelligence application, fell to $3.8 million for the year ended December 31, down 57 percent from $9 million a year earlier. That came on 2012 revenue of $388.5 million, which was up 21 percent from 2011 and 26 percent on a constant currency basis. License revenue of $238.7 million was up 17 percent over the prior year; 21 percent at constant currencies

NETSUITE INTROS OPENAIR MOBILE APP

NetSuite has introduced the OpenAir Mobile for the Android operating system. The company had previously released an app for the Apple iOS. For example, the app enables users to take photos of receipts, attach them to records and synchronize them with their OpenAir PSA accounts. There is also a calendar interface, access to OpenAir timesheets and expense reports and synchronization with OpenAir accounts.

QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions strengthened its growth in the second quarter ended January 31. Intuit reported there were 80,000 active subscribers at the end of the period, a 25-percent increase from 64,000 a year earlier. That was up 4,000 subscribers or 5.2 percent from the prior quarter. Since sequentially quarterly growth has usually been an increase of 2,000 to 3,000 active subscribers, the 4,000-unit increase from the first to second quarter was an improvement.

SAP’s Business ByDesign financial application has moved to Hana, the company’s in-memory database platform. It is a system that SAP says provides significant increases in speed over traditional database technology. The company says the system also adds mass maintenance, invoice flexibility and multi-step approval processes for subsidiary and large enterprise integration and compliance processes.

UNIT4 SAAS REVS ACCELERATE

Unit4, which markets the Agresso and Coda lines, reported that its SaaS subscription rose by 24.7 percent to about $63.5 million for the year ended December 31. And they accelerated in the fourth quarter, registering a rise of 27 percent. That came as the drop in product revenue accelerated in the fourth quarter. For the year, product revenue, which I assume includes license revenue and maybe more, was $100.9 million, an increase of 1.5 percent over 2011.

Socius has signed Maner Costerisan Business Solutions & Technology as a sales affiliate. Socius, a Microsoft Master VAR based in Dublin, Ohio, linked up with the group, which is part of Lansing, Mich.-based accounting firm Maner Costerisan. This is an interesting one because for a brief while, Maner Costerisan seemed to be getting more visible in technology, but this is a step away from a D-I-Y reseller business.
