NETSUITE BUSY IN ASIA

Tomoyuki Nakanishi, NetSuiteNetSuite was in a flurry of activity this week in Asia with product introductions, an executive hiring in Japan and new channel members named. The San Mateo, Calif.-based cloud software company released its OneWorld Suite for Hong Kong and Singapore, although given the number of companies running the product there already, this was more a "grand opening" banner after the store had opened.

SAP MERGES SMB GROUPS

Barry Padgett, SAPSAP has merged organizations that market its lower-end products. The company is placing SAP Business One, Anywhere and Business ByDesign in one organization under Barry Padgett as president. Padgett was most recently chief product officer for Concur, having spent nearly 20 years at that organization. Another Concur veteran, CIO Steve deRham, is taking on an additional role as CIO for SAP's Business Networks & Applications group. Both report to Steve Singh the head of SAP's BNA operations.

SOCIUS OPENS ATLANTA OFFICE

Jeff Geisler, Socius Socius has followed up last fall's acquisition of the Dynamics GP practice of I.B.I.S. by opening an office in Dunwoody, Ga. The new facility in the Atlanta area will employ 25 people initially with the company saying it has plans for aggressive growth in the next year. The office is the twenty-ninth for Dublin, Ohio-based Socius which resells the four Dynamics accounting applications, NetSuite, Sage 100 and 500, and Syspro.

ROTH CONSULTS FOR SBS GROUP

Jeff Roth, J AdvisorsJeff Roth, recently departed as CEO of SWK Technologies, has become an executive consultant for SBS Group. Both reselling organizations are headquartered in New Jersey. Roth has also begun an organization called J Advisors. "Jim Bowman [SBS CEO] needed some executive depth at SBS and I'm there about 50 percent of my time," Roth says. Roth continues that he "is on the executive team and there as a consultant with many projects and goals ahead of me" as part of what he calls "a great organization.

OPEN SYSTEMS' ALARCON JOINS SSI

Carla Alarcon, SSI Consulting Carla Alarcon, long-time marketing director at Open Systems, has taken a position to run marketing programs for SSI Consulting. Alarcon moved to the Vienna, Va.-based software reseller this month after spending 13 years with the Shakopee, Minn.-based publisher of Open Systems Accounting Software and Traverse. SSI is led by Bill Aiton, who has been president of the organization since January 2005.

EPICOR BUYS DOT NET IT

Epicor Software has acquired Dot Net IT, a company-based Bracknell, the United Kingdom. Dot Net is an Epicor alliance and channel partner which is described as "specializing in Epicor ERP implementation services, support and development of add-on solutions." Terms were not announced. In particular, the deal was cited for adding cloud-based applications to the Epicor portfolio. Epicor's announcement also honed in on the acquired company's team of developers who produce the Data Management Tool used by used by Epicor customers and integrators to speed implementation projects.

KEYEDIN TIES INTO SAGE LIVE

Alan Laing, Sage KeyedIn Solutions will integrate its Manufacturing Cloud ERP with the Sage Live accounting system. Once again, Sage shows its relatively newfound willingness to partner with other companies, in particular to move Live along. KeyedIn markets both the manufacturing product and KeyedIn Projects for project accounting. The new alliance is a pretty simple formula—Sage Live with its emphasis on mobile access for the accounting and KeyedIn for the manufacturing end.

ROTH RESIGNS FROM SWK TECHNOLOGIES

Jeff Roth, SWK TechnologiesJeff Roth, CEO of SWK Technologies, has resigned his position with the Livingston, N.J.-based reseller. Roth has been with the organization since March 2002. His duties are being handled by Mark Meller, chairman of SWK's parent, publicly held SilverSun Technologies. Meller wished Roth well and said that all other senior leaders remain in place. He emphasized that he will serve as CEO. "This is not an interim position," Meller said. Roth is, as they say, pursuing other interests.

INTUIT DOUBLES BOTTOM LINE

Neil Williams, Intuit Intuit turned in a good performance for the third quarter ended April 31 but seemed to spend a lot of time fielding questions from analysts asking why its growth in QuickBooks Online was not faster. However, the company doubled net income to slightly more than $1 billion in the most recently ended period from $501 million a year ago. And revenue rose to $2.3 billion, a 7.9 percent increase from $2.14 billion in last year’s corresponding period.

TOP 100: THE CLOUD GROWS

cloudNo one should be surprised that Bob Scott's Top 100 VARs shows an increasing number of resellers carrying cloud products for the 2016 class. There were 50 in 2015 and that has jumped to 60 this year. If you accept the definition that hosted applications are not true cloud applications that means more companies are carrying products other than the Microsoft Dynamics lines or any of Sage's various products since those companies are still in the hosted segment.
