FULLSCOPE EMBEZZLEMENT INVESTIGATED

Fullscope logoEdgewater Technology has reported an apparent embezzlement at Fullscope, a Dynamics AX reseller that it acquired on December 31. The embezzlement appears to have started as early as 2007. Following the acquisition, Edgewater discovered what it termed irregular non-routine transactions recorded in the first five months of this year via which an administrative office employee tried to hide the misdirection of customer payments. Fullscope, based in Athens, Ala.,  was Microsoft's Dynamics Manufacturing Partner of the Year for 2009.

VENDORS FLOCK TO AZURE

Microsoft may not be doing anything to bring its own ERP systems to the cloud (that it's talking about), but WPC was replete with hardware and software vendors that are utilizing its Windows Azure platform. It was odd that Microsoft used its conference to announce cloud-based platforms from Infor, its Infor24 line for expense management, asset management and ERP that Infor says are available now. DYNAMICS CRM 11 DEBUTS

Microsoft does have a habit of preannouncing products. But the fact that it headlined Dynamics CRM 2011 as being introduced this week says a lot about the obvious emphasis on CRM. The next edition is being released to beta in September. As outlined by Kirk Koenigsbauer, corporate vice president of the Office Business Platform Group, Dynamics CRM gets a ribbon so it works “Just like the Office experience does.”  He also referred to charts and graphs inside of CRM as being “a little like Performance Point Services …” Read more...

RELLER ON STAGE AT WPC

Whether or not the CFO of the Windows division would be expected to keynote the Worldwide Partner Conference is something I’m not sure of. But for Great Plains alums, it’s worthwhile noting that Tami Reller, once key sidekick to Doug Burgum, got a spot on the big stage. It certainly demonstrates that Reller remains in good stead at Microsoft. I keep getting back to the issue of the magazine, Red Herring, a few years ago, that featured what it called mini-Bills, the potential successors to founder Bill Gates when he was still active in the company. Reller was the only female among the group. Looks like she still has a shot of heading higher. Read more...

WAITING FOR OLCD

Few technologies immediately impress me, but while tooling around the Louvre last month, I kept seeing monitors on cameras, largely those held by Japanese tourists, that displayed photos that had spectacular colors that were produced under very dim lighting conditions. A quick check with Randy Johnston of K2 Enterprises brought the info that the monitors were probably using OLCD  (organic LCD) technology. Unfortunately, the high-quality images are available only on the monitors, not yet in the photo output. Read more...

TRIBRIDGE TOPS DYNAMICS CHANNEL

Tampa, Fla.-based Tribridge has been named as Microsoft Dynamics Outstanding Reseller of the Year. The award was made during this week's Worldwide Partner Conference, at which members of the Inner Circle and President’s Club were also revealed. The Inner Circle looks more than ever like a list of larger resellers: Tectura, Columbus IT, ePartners, Tribridge, Hitachi Consulting, Fullscope were all on the list. Among the smallest are Ibis and InterDyn AKA. Read more...

MICROSOFT’S ERP SKIES CLOUDLESS

The outlook was for Microsoft’s Dynamics ERP line, as given at this week’s Worldwide Partner Steve ElopConference, was not a cloud in the sky. In fact, if you listened to keynotes or read transcriptions, you would barely know Microsoft markets financial software. Kirill Tatarinov, head of Microsoft Business Solutions, did make a keynote and there was a Dynamics track. But Tatarinov's speech wasn't posted to the Microsoft Web site. The closest other executives got to mentioning the accounting products was Steve Elop, president of the Business Management Division, who noted “we've seen 8,000 new individual specialists becoming certified on the latest Dynamics solution … Read more...

INTUIT COMPUTUS INTERRUPTUS, AGAIN

A commercial power outage knocked out Intuit’s Internet service for service hours on Wednesday, July 14. I am probably missing something in the technical issues here, but I thought that backup systems at big companies were supposed to prevent things like this when commercial services are interrupted. Intuit had a more than 24-hour outage early in June when routine maintenance took down primary and secondary backup systems. If this keeps up, Intuit could do for cloud computing what the Hindenburg did for blimp travel. I think I figured it out—some guy in accounting keeps trying to plug in an element to boil water in a cup and it keeps knocking out the system and nobody can find the circuit breakers.
