CEO CLEANS UP AT DELTEK

Kevin ParkerDeltek CEO Kevin Parker saw his compensation jump for 2010 when he received stock awards valued at $3.1 million, more than twice the prior-year's total. The award brought his total pay to $4.1 million, compared to $1.58 million for 2009. Two executives who left the company on April 1 also got nice boost in equity compensation. Carolyn Parent, former EVP and general manager of GovCon received $1.24 million in compensation for her last year with the company, compared to nearly $685,000 in 2009. Read more...

CONSONA OFFERS NEW CRM RELEASE

Consona, whose varied product lines includes the Made2Manage manufacturing software, has released Consona Customer Management Version 7.1. This is the application formerly known as Onyx. A new user interface was introduced in 7.0 and with 7.1, the company says it has extended the Navigator features and tools from the earlier release to fulfill “some of the more frequent customer enhancement requests.” Read more...

RETAIL AX VAR HITS U.S.

AlfaPeople, a reseller that is concentrating on the retail market, has entered the United States this month. The organization is built around operations that were formerly part of Columbus IT Partner, the Dynamics reseller based in Denmark, and the CEO of AlfaPeople Group is founder and former Columbus IT CEO Michael Gaardboe. AlfaPeople is building its business around Dynamics AX and CRM and is establishing a Retail Lab, a concept it has used in Europe, what it calls a “deep dive” into retail topics. Read more...

NAVISITE TO HOST COSTPOINT

NaviSite has entered an agreement to provide a hosted, managed version of Deltek’s Costpoint application. NaviSite Managed Application Services for Deltek Costpoint is designed for government organizations and enterprise users. The application, designed for project-based outfits, encompasses accounting, project management, human resources, time and attendance, operations, expense management, payroll, recruiting and business development. BIZNET SIGNS ACCOUNTMATE

BizNet Software has been busy signing vendors to offer its Excel-based analysis software. Among the latest to join with it is AccountMate Software, which had previously offered BizNet as a vertical package. That company is now offering AccountMate Business Analysis Powered by BizNet and Excel (Clearly, headline writers are never called upon to name software products). Read more...

RANDOM THOUGHTS: MOUNTED IN ALASKA

"Mounted in Alaska" seemed like an enticing name for a TV reality show. I thought maybe it was a series about Bristol Palin, but it’s just some stupid story about taxidermy. Considering that Palin Jr. was paid $262,500 paycheck in 2009 by The Candie’s Corp. as an ambassador for its teen pregnancy prevention campaign. The foundation is also considering hiring Charlie Sheen for an anti-cocaine abuse campaign and Willie Nelson to combat marijuana use. DYNAMICS CLOUD ERP IN 2012

Microsoft was supposed to outline plans for going to the cloud with its financial applications during the keynote speeches at the Convergence user conference in Florida this morning. A message was delivered by CEO Steve Ballmer and Kirill Tatarinov, head of Microsoft Business Solutions that ERP would go to the cloud in the next major release of the product. But that message wasn't as clear as the plan outlined by Tatarinov in a press conference that followed the presentation.

DYNAMICS CLOUD PLANS TO BE OUTLINED?

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer is expected to outline the order at which the company's Dynamics packages will be available in cloud versions. The betting is that will be part of Ballmer's keynote presentation tomorrow morning (Monday) at the Convergence user conference being held this week in Atlanta. Read more...

MICROSOFT DELAYS PARTNER PROGRAM

Microsoft has delayed the start of the certification requirements of its new partner program. Slated to go into effect on May 1, the requirements have been postponed until October 1 and there are already bets that further delays are likely. This apparently affects all levels from SPA, the general partner tier, through the silver and gold certification levels. Word about this decision started being delivered to VARs about a week ago, but it seemed very clear that not everyone got the news at the same time and some organizations heard about it far more recently. The program is viewed as potentially driving many smaller resellers from the channel since achieving some certifications would mandate for staff than they have.
