Qlik Technologies has named Tim MacCarrick as chief financial officer to replace William Sorenson, who announced in February his plans to leave the company for personal reasons. MacCarrick, whose new position is effective July 1, was previously COO of global vendor finance for De Lage Landen International, a position he took in January 2011. He joined that company in June 2010.

RAND GROUP HIRES AX MANAGER

The Rand Group, a Dynamics reseller based in Houston, Texas, has hired Heather Bevins as manager of its Dynamics AX practice. The announcement was made in late May. However, Bevins’ LinkedIn page shows she joined the value-added reseller in March. Previously, she was with Liberty Lake, Wash.-based ScreenTek in two different positions starting in February 2008.

INTACCT INTEGRATES WITH MISYS

Cloud vendor Intacct has gotten into the manufacturing market by integrating with software from Manufacturing Information Systems. Besides integrating MiSys into Intacct, the latter company has added MiSys to the Intacct Marketplace. MiSys CEO Dave Brown said it’s the first time his company has integrated its product with a cloud-based accounting application.

Reckon, once Intuit’s agent for marketing products in Australia, has unveiled a cloud accounting application called Reckon One, said to have a designed-by-you approach to enable businesses to select functionality they need. Interesting, since the low-end product Sage is introducing in its markets is called Sage One. Given the penchant for companies to go international with low-end products, it’s always worth keeping an eye out for these.

Unit4, which markets the Agresso and Coda lines, will get a new CEO in January. The current title holder, Chris Ouwinga, will step down and be replaced by Jose Duarte, former global president services and corporate officer for SAP, with the two acting as co-CEOs until January 1. Duarte held the SAP spot from January 2011 through May 2012. He was CEO and president of SAP's Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) group from July 2008.

Sage has placed the photograph and bio sketch of its VP and general manager for Sage One North America on the executive page for Sage North America. Note, this does not say hired since the job’s occupant, Henry Benamram, took the position in July 2012 in Atlanta. He is also VP product management and product marketing for Sage 50 U.S. edition, a job he has held since February 2012.

XERO HAVING IMPACT IN BIG FIRMS?

Online accounting software vendor Xero says it has a foothold in the Top 100 American accounting firms. In a slide in presentation about its results for the year ended March 31, the company said it that "Over 10 of top 100 accounting firms in process of moving clients to Xero." However, the company is not ready to name names. The only member of this group publicly identified so far is San Ramon, Calif.-based Armanino.

SAP has introduced cloud consulting services available for a broad range of its product line. The offerings include a cloud catalyst service, available internationally, with a live scoping for accelerated innovation service initially available in North America. Cloud catalyst service is a bundle of analysis and a selective migration road map “for using infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) for on-premise landscapes.”

Summit, Sage’s annual conference, is bringing VAR comments that the event is not for them. To be held at the Gaylord National Harbor, Washington, D.C. Summit is a combination of reseller and user conferences. It starts on Sunday, July 21, with that day and Monday, July 22, reserved for the channel and then customers and channel able to attend through Friday (VARs via a three-day or six-day pass).

SOLARWINDS BUYS N-ABLE FOR $120M

SolarWinds has acquired Ottawa, Ontario-based N-Able Technologies for $120 million. N-Able, which makes managed service provider automation offerings, was a portfolio company of Accel-KKR. Accel-KKR also has a majority investment in Accellos and a minority stake in SwiftPage, which recently acquired Act and SalesLogix from Sage. SolarWinds said the payment was made from its cash balance.
