Hitachi Solutions America, a Dynamics AX and CRM reseller, has acquired Customer Effective, one of Microsoft's top CRM VARs. Hitachi said the deal will add around 90 highly-skilled CRM resources throughout North America. Customer Effective CEO Scott Millwood, has become SVP Hitachi Solutions Global CRM practice.

SilverSun Technologies, parent of Sage reseller, SWK Technologies, turned a profit of $322,548 for the year ended December 31, compared to a 2012 loss of just over $1.2 million. The bottom line benefited from a $120,000 income tax benefit. The company said this week that came as revenue rose 32 percent to $17.4 million in the most recently ended year, compared to $13.2 million for the prior year. SilverSun said sales of Sage's X3 system were largely responsible for the growth in software and consulting services last year.

Retail Pro International has struck an exclusive deal with flexReceipts to bring the latter company's digital receipts to American retail stores. The alliance make flexReciepts the only endorse partner to provide the receipts to RPI customers. The receipts are customizable and offer product-level recommendations, unique offers based on spending habits and social media tie-ins. The integration of video is also enabled. In line with the current trend, flexReceipts, of course, supports omnichannel branding

Yuri Larichev, CEO of Acumatica from January 2013 until this month, has become president of a sister company, Acronis. Larichev, who remains on the Acumatica advisory board, joins a company that provides software backup, disaster recovery and secure access software. It looks like talent used in the start up of Acumatica has been deliberately shifted to Acronis. Ezequiel Steiner, CEO, president and chairman of Acumatica, moved to Acronis in June where he is now general for the GroupLogic Business unit and head of business development.

Tribridge, based in Miami, Fla., has been named the 2013 Global BI360 Partner of the Year by Solver. Los Angeles, Calif.-based Solver picked Tribridge for demonstrating significant customer impact in delivering the BI360 Suite. Solver also recognized 12 other companies for achievements in different partner categories globally and regionally. Deltek has acquired London, England-based Sohnar, which makes Traffic Live, a PSA product used by marketing agencies and other project-based companies. Terms were not disclosed. The acquired cloud-based application manages projects and the flow of creative jobs within such firms. It is described as a leading online studio, project & workflow management and resource planning system.

New Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella held his first press conference this week and, as expected, announced the availability of Office 365 on Apple's iPad. That was simply the major piece of evidence of Nadella's emphasis. His statements revolved around the theme of having products available across every platform and every device and that included every telephone, not just on Microsoft devices or PCs. "Today is just one aspect of overall strategy," Nadella said.

SugarCRM will have native integration of D&B business content starting in April, the companies announced this week. Users can choose from three levels of D&B data integration based with each level providing different types and quantities of company and contact information, as well as detailed industry and competitor data. The integrated product will be available through SugarCRM resellers while users can purchase D&B data subscriptions from SugarCRM VARs, which will provide local sales and support.

Sage has published the percentage increase for midmarket products this year. Prices on almost all midmarket applications go up by 3 percent on May 1 and on Business Care renewals on August 1. One exception is Sage HRMS which gets a 4-percent hike on both new licenses and renewals. The 3-percent increase affects the following: Sage 100 Contractor, 100 ERP, 300 Construction and Real Estate, 300 ERP, 500, Budgeting and Planning, BusinessVision Accounting, BusinessWorks and CRM.

One of the most important questions of our day is "Can science cure the common Kardashian?" And speaking of America's No. 1 family, there were recent pictures of the Kardashian half-sister, Kylie Jenner, in a bikini. The average reaction was less "What a hot babe" than "OMG, there's more of them." .... Somebody on Twitter named me as a "Cool Journalist" in a couple of categories two weeks ago. This week, he upped that to "Super Journalist."
