APLOS RECEIVES $2 MILLION FUNDING

Aplos softwareAplos Software, which makes cloud-based nonprofit software, has raised $2 million in financing from private investors. The Fresno, Calif.-based company said the proceeds will be used to expand the company's suite and accelerate development of features for its nonprofit accounting and donor management software. Funds will also be used to release an API to integrate with other web-based packages used by churches and nonprofits.

INFOR COLLABORATES WITH RED HAT

Charles Phillips, InforInfor has collaborated with Red Hat and EnterpriseDB to make Infor LN ERP available on "a total open technology stack." Red Hat makes open source solutions and EnterpriseDB markets the PostgreSQL database. Infor CEO Charles Phillips said in a prepared statement the deal means "we can now offer our customers the choice to standardize on best-of-breed open solutions without compromising performance or functionality."

EXACT READIES MACOLA 10, ON-DEMAND

Alison Forsythe, Exact MacolaExact is telling its customer and channel about the planned Macola 10 and about a new sales account coverage model during its Evolution conference this week. Exact is doing a lot new with Macola, including the show, which replaces its previous Engage and Nexus conferences. What it has not done during the two days of Evolution is issue news, except for one press release describing the conference. The conference agenda shows that general manager Alison Forsythe discussed the new sales account coverage in her keynote as well as the direction of Exact Macola.

EDGEWATER EXECS DRAW COMP REWARDS

Shirley Singleton, Edgewater TechnologyEdgewater Technology, which owns Dynamics reseller Fullscope, rewarded most of its top executives in 2013 in good increase in compensation. The company's recent SEC filings show CEO Shirley Singleton received $967,488 in total compensation in 2013, an increase of 32.7 percent from $728,979 in 2012. The boost included a stock award of $131,147, with nothing in that category the prior year.

AKA REBRANDS MINUS ONE WORD

Jack Ades, AKA Enterprise SolutionsFor many years, the reseller headed quite successfully by Jack Ades and Alan Kahn has identified itself as InterDyn AKA. That name reflects the Interdyn consortium, which originally was a group of strong Great Plains resellers but has branched out in the last few years. When this year's Top 100 form came back from the Manhattan, N.Y.-based company, it had the name "AKA Enterprise Solutions".

ACHIEVE IT BUYS INDIAN VAR

Timothy Singleton, Achieve IT SolutionsAchieve IT Solutions, an SAP reseller based in Port Jefferson, N.Y., has acquired the SAP practice of Visnova Solutions, which it described as India's first and largest SAP Business One Partner. The deal brings Achieve IT, which is also a Business One reseller, the Biz One Solutions, a set of applications developed for the SAP product by Visnova. The Visnova Biz One Solutions suite will be migrated and, fully integrate and rebranded into the American VAR's Achieve One product line.

SAGE READYING PARTNER DASHBOARD

SageSage North America is introducing the Sage Advisor Dashboard for Partners at the end of the month. The company says the online tool, available via the Sage Partner Portal, is designed to provide the channel with same kind of customer information that the vendor has. "If they call into tech support on how to use something, it captures that," was one example provided by Donald Deshaies, VP of channel management.

JEEVES BUYS SWISS FIRM

 Jeff Tognoni, Jeeves Information Systems Sweden's Jeeves Information Systems has acquired privately held ERP SolvAxis, which is headquartered in Switzerland. Terms were not disclosed. Although this does not directly impact the United States, it follows on the heels of Jeeves opening a U.S. office and launching JeevesERP Version 4 in the last month. Jeeves is one of those companies with private equity money behind it, in this case Battery Ventures. which cobbled together Consona, which later merged with CDC Software to produce Aptean.

SAP: WE ARE THE CLOUD CHAMP

 Bill McDermott, SAPSAP hasn't been modest in its earnings calls in the last couple of years and generally, it's got the numbers to back that up. The company said its cloud run-rate is about $1.5 billion. So this week's first quarter webcast had executives touting SAP as the top cloud company. "We are not only growing cloud faster than our nearest competitor," said co-CEO Bill McDermott, "We help [customers] run their entire businesses in the cloud which our competitors just don't do."

EXACT DOES DEAL WITH WISYS

Bruce Hollinger,  WiSysExact has partnered with WiSys to provide warehouse management capabilities for users of Exact Macola. Beyond the simple announcement, this marks another change for Exact because if it has had alliances with third party vendors in this country, it has been a long time since any have been announced. It also is part of a declared best-of-breed strategy for Exact Macola. WiSys was founded by Macola founder, Bruce Hollinger, and the fact that the company mentioned this in a press release also represents a difference approach to doing things.
