SWENSON: SAGE'S OLDER PROGRAMS NOT A PROBLEM

 

Sue SwensonWhile Sage has some programs on the market that have been there a long-time, the longevity of the programs by themselves is not a problem, Sue Swenson, CEO of Sage North America, said yesterday at Summit, the Sage user conference underway this week in Atlanta. “I don’t think we should be embarrassed that we have products that are older,” Swenson said. “It’s not a negative if we can make sure we are approaching the right market place.”

INTUIT'S SMITH GETS SMALL INCREASE IN COMP

Given the economy, it's not surprising that the bonus for Intuit CEO Brad Smith dropped by 51 percent for the year ended July 31. But increases in the value of stock and options awards compensated for the decrease and Smith ended up with a 3.4 percent increase in total compensation for fiscal 2009.

NAVISITE REVS FALL, LOSS RISES FOR YEAR

Managed and hosting service provider NaviSite reported a net loss of  $18.5 million for the year ended July 31, up from $11.3 million for fiscal 2008. Revenue for 2009 of $152.7 million was down 1 percent from $154.9 million the prior year. Hosting revenue was flat at $34.5 million in the year just reported, compared to $34.4 million in 2008.

DELTEK EASES SOME STOCK RESTRICTIONS

Deltek and New Mountain Funds, which helped recapitalize the company and take it public in 2007, have agreed to waive restrictions on the sale of stock held by a trust owned by Donald deLaski, one of the company's cofounders. Under the agreement, restrictions were lifted on the sale or transfer of 500,000 shares of Deltek common stock held by the deLaski trust.

RADIANT'S NET JUMPS AS SALES SLIDE

Radiant Systems, a POS specialist, reported that net income more than doubled while its revenue dropped 14 percent for the third quarter ended September 30. The company, whose products include the CounterPoint POS application, reported earnings of $3.4 million, a jump from $1.6 million for last year's corresponding period.

Acclivity, which markets the MYOB product portfolio in the United States and Canada, announced its top partners at the company's 14th annual conference, held in Morristown, N.J.  last month. The company named JoAnn Ortiz of Hollywood, Calif.-based Fly Dragon Consulting as 2009 Partner of the Year.
