DYNAMICS CUSTOMER EXCELLENCE GOES BIG

There’s probably not a message here other than big projects are easier to note and reward and those are sold by big resellers. But the list of selling partners that accompanies this year’s Microsoft Customer Excellence Awards is pretty much a list of the mighty in size. Overall Excellence with Dynamics CRM went to Panduit, sold by Hitachi Consulting, and Overall Excellence for Dynamics ERP to a customer not yet publicly named, sold by Columbus IT. Read more...

MACDONALD OUT AT INFOR

TAYLOR MACDONALDThe final story on this may take some time. But Taylor Macdonald is no longer in his position as vp of worldwide channels at Infor. That information came just as Infor had issued a press release saying it had enlisted 25 new channel partners, which is what Macdonald, the long-time channel champion at Sage North America, had been doing for this vendor.  Infor released a statement that Macdonald had left the company ... drum roll please ... to pursue other opportunities. Infor's prepared statement said, " Taylor devoted his full energy to an evaluation of our current channel program, including extensive travel to visit partners around the globe." And of course, they wished him well.

EPICOR PUMPS OUT VERSION 9 UPGRADE

Epicor Software, whose Version 9 seems to be one of the hottest products in the financial software market, has come out with what it calls a major new release, 9.05. Since 9's release  late in 2008, the company said it has 140 live customers with 35,000 seats, and as noted in the last newsletter issue, there are reports Epicor is showing up competitively in a way it hasn't in a long time. If you can wade through the press release puffery of analysis from research organizations, the press release actually provides information on the product, although that takes some work. Read more...

COLUMBUS IT'S AX SALES TANK IN AMERICAS

It wasn't a good year for many companies, but revenue from Dynamics AX slid sharply in the Americas, according to Columbus IT, as it reported results for 2009. While Dynamics NAV sales were unchanged at $5.8 million at the current value of the dollar, the Dynamics AX results were $11.7 million for 2009, down 47 percent from 2008 when measured in Danish kroner. KLAUS DISCOVERS EPICOR'S VAR PROGRAM

CEO George Klaus has finally owned up to the fact that has company  has a channel program, following Epicor's Five-Star award for Epicor's Partners for Growth Program. Now, this is very strange since Klaus has spent much of his time during Webcasts telling investors and Wall Street that the company is totally direct sales. Now, Klaus said he's proud of the channel program. But it's a strange pride. The company didn't issue a public statement when it named Sam Montana to head its worldwide channel in January nor has it issued a press release to announce the program, that I can find on Epicor's Web site.

NETSUITE COUGHS UP HAIRBALL AWARDS

With a press release that has one of the longest headlines I've seen in a long time, NetSuite kicked off its inaugural nominee class for the Hairball awards. SAGE VARS RECORDING X3 SALES

Sage x3 logoSales of Sage's high-end X3 software may never pour in. But after months of signing up resellers, the company is starting to see results. This week, Datel, a reseller in the United Kingdom, said in a somewhat vaguely worded press release that it had made the first X3 sale, and we're all presuming that means in the British Isles. Meanwhile, Jeff Roth, president of SWK Technologies, based in Livingston, N.J., said his organization closed a deal this week as did Canadian CA-Plus.
