CYMA BUNDLE OFFERED

Cyma logoCyma Systems has put together a specially priced bundle of products for nonprofit, 501(c)(3) charitable organizations that is available until July 31 for such companies provided their annual revenue is $5 million or less. These organizations can purchase the combination of General Ledger, Accounts Payable, and Grant Tracking modules with two concurrent users, the database application and one year of software updates. Cyma says the regular price is more than $3,800, but the bundle is being offered for $795.

SAGE SALE TALKS; NOT LIKELY, BUT

Some have been reading a report from Citigroup analysts, quoted in the publication, Accountancy Age, as stating that Sage might sell its North American operations. I read the statement from the analysts as not saying that at all, but leaving the impression the financial organization thinks Sage’s healthcare business might be on the block. SAGE RESTOCKING MIP CHANNEL

Sage Nonprofit Solutions has been recruiting new resellers to carry its nonprofit MIP Fund Accounting since the number has shrunk by about 20 percent over the last five years. The diminution has stemmed from consolidation and acquisition, along with those who have exited the business. I and others have also felt that the MIP channel was a bit neglected by corporate, at least the old regime. Read more...

ACUMATICA PLAYS NETSUITE'S GAME

First it was Microsoft and now it's online vendor Acumatica which is taking a page from the NetSuite competitive pricing playbook. Acumatica, based in Bethesda, Md., is offering a three-year pricing guarantee on its Internet-based ERP offerings. The company says customers will pay the same in year three of their contract as they do in year one. The guarantee includes the licensing of the SaaS app, along with maintenance charges for on-premise deployment. Read more...

MICROSOFT'S TABASCO TO RESHAPE CHANNEL

A question to Microsoft about Tabasco, the code-name for a program announced at Worldwide Partner Conference last year, brought this response that partner program enhancements "are designed to help our vertically-oriented partners increase their scale and productivity, as well as help our horizontally-oriented partners make the transition to vertical specialization and growth.” But some well-placed resellers say there's more than that and the new partner program, which kicks in July 1, represents a fundamental change in Microsoft’s approach. TAYLOR MACDONALD ON THE ROAD AGAIN

Taylor MacdonaldAfter about a year at enterprise software vendor, Infor, Taylor Macdonald, who was VP of worldwide channels is out of a job again. But I get the sense this may be more like his departure from Sage in October 2007 than his voluntary move from Deltek to Promethean at the end of 2008 and a similar move to Infor early in 2009. Macdonald could not be reached for comment and Infor released a fairly standard statement thanking him for his work in evaluating the company's channel and wishing him well. Read more...

DYNAMICS DEBUTS CRM FOR NONPROFITS

Dynamics Microsoft has begun selling Dynamics CRM for nonprofits and nongovernmental organizations, the first specialized CRM product from the vendor.  This new offering was described as having out-of-the-box CRM functionality and customizations for features peculiar to these organizations such as donation and pledge management, basic membership management, basic volunteer tracking, campaign management, dashboard reports, and support for online payment solutions. AUTOTASK ENTERS PSA CLOUD

Autotask, which markets IT management software, has acquired the VARStreet platform, which it modestly claims redfines "all IT Professional Services Automation (PSA) solutions by adding powerful tools to automate and streamline the entire IT product sales and procurement process." LAWSON 3Q: BRIGHT SIGN FOR OTHERS?

If results for Lawson Software, which competes on the high-end of this market, reflect the market for the financial software, then things ought to be even brighter when the rest of the ERP vendors start reporting their March quarters. Lawson reported a 71-percent decrease in net income on a 7 percent rise in revenue for the third quarter ended February 28. Net income fell to $1.8 million for the period ended March 31, compared to $6.2 million a year earlier. Read more...
