CATERPILLER BIZ GETS INFOR RESOURCES

infor logoInfor is making a significant investment in the equipment dealership industry. The company says it will have about 200 staff dedicated to the Infor Equipment product line at its new innovation center in Stockholm, Sweden. It has also has created an Infor CAT Dealer Advisory Council for the support, development and use of an industry-specific template in the business. There are nine members on the council, which is focused on identifying effective business processes "that scale to provide accessibility to a wide range of dealers." Read more...

SAGE BUYS BRAZILIAN COMPANIES

Sage logoThe Sage Group increased its presence in Brazil this week with the acquisition of two companies. These are the second and third purchases in the South American country this year. Sage bought Empresa Brasileira de Sistemas, which makes accounting, business management and tax software, for about $17.3 million. It also picked up Cenize Informática, which makes accounting software for small businesses, for about $6.3 million. Read more...

UNIT4 MERGING NORTH AMERICAN OPS

Shelley Zapp, Unit4 Business SoftwareUnit4, which markets the Coda and Agresso lines, is merging its two North American business units. Unit4 Business Software and Unit4 Coda are being combined under the first name. The company expects the merger to provide customers with greater coverage and support, better global integration and additional product sets. This apparently puts operations on this continent in the same model via which the company operates in the rest of the world. Read more...

PERVASIVE SOLICITS BUYERS

Pervasive Software logoPervasive Software is seeking bids for the company after getting an unsolicited proposal last month. Austin, Texas-based Pervasive received the proposal from Actian Corp. on August 13 and has instructed its financial advisor, Shea & Co., to seek non-binding bids from interested parties. Actian offered $8.50 per share in cash in a deal that is valued at about $154 million. Actian said that Pervasive had so far repeatedly declined its offer to discuss the proposal.

ACQUISITIONS HIKES K3 REVENUE

k3 logoThe acquisition of other resellers boosted the revenue of the K3 Business Technology Group, a retail specialist based in the United Kingdom by 28 percent for the year ended June 30. Its profit rose by 28 percent although the final comprehensive income line was reduced by this year's currency losses, which contrasted with currency gains a year ago. Read more...

Alex Solomon, Net@WorkNew York-based Net@Work and Canada's Plus Computer are leading in the sales of Sage's major CRM products, Sage CRM and SalesLogix through August. The numbers get plugged into the selection of five top VARs and an all around Partner of the Year for Sage's year ending September 30.  It seemed wise to break the CRM sales leaders from the ERP leaders covered in an another news item to avoid a shopping list of names. AVALARA INTEGRATES WITH TAXNOW

Avalara logoAvalara has picked up a new partner for its sales-and-use tax engine with an agreement with Adipietro Technology. That company develops TaxNow for Salesforce and also WordPress e-Commerce applications. According to Adipietro, TaxNow for Salesforce Quotes is suited to companies needing quote-level or opportunity-level sales tax or customer address verification enabled quickly. TaxNow for Salesforce Opportunities is designed for companies that do not have quote functionality enabled in their Salesforce org. The company also says that TaxNow for WP e-Commerce will be available soon as a free download on the WordPress.org plug-in directory.

Aptean is the company formed in August by the combination of Consona and CDC Software. And outside of the August 7 press release announcing the formation of the company, this is the first press release of any kind issued by the new company.
