AVALARA UPDATES CERTCAPTURE

AvalaraAvalara has enhanced CertCapture, its software that enables users to capture, manage, and analyze tax compliance documents in real-time. Important new features include what the company called a simplified user interface for use in point-of-sale systems. There is also a single sign-on to exemption certificate management.

MYOB BUYS GREENTREE

Peter Dickinson, GreentreeAustralia-based MYOB has acquired Greentree, which makes financial software for companies with roughly 100 to 1,000 employees. MYOB is buying Auckland, N.Z.-based Greentree for $20.5 million. The move will give MYOB a broader geographical reach and a larger potential base of clients. MYOB operates in Australia and New Zealand and serves companies with about 20 to 500 employees.

SAGE INTEGRATION CLOUD READIED

Steve Hare, SageSage has debuted the Sage Cloud to integrate applications to connect its software products. While the product announcement called the platform the Sage Cloud, CFO Stephen Hare consistently called it the Sage Integration Cloud in the week's webcast for its third-quarter trading update. Even if that's not the official name, it seems to provide a good description of the platform's purpose.

NETSUITE REVS UP 30 PERCENT

netsuiteThe results for NetSuite's second quarter ended June 30 would normally be something to crow about. But given the day's announcement that the mother ship is calling NetSuite home—Oracle is buying NetSuite—it seems the rooster has left the building. And the cloud-based software company cancelled this week's second-quarter earnings call. But there was progress on all fronts.

SAGE SUMMIT FOR $99

Sage Summit and an IntruderSage proclaimed that it had 15,000 people registered to physically attend its Summit conference this week in Chicago and another 15,000 signed up remotely. The question yet to be answered is how happy are exhibitors and right now, there's not enough input to reach any conclusion.

ACCUFUND INTROS POSITION CONTROL

Peter Stam, AccuFundAccuFund has introduced the Position Control Module, an add-on to the Payroll Module in the AccuFund Accounting Suite. The new application tracks employees by position and ascertains which positions are open or have been filled. It offers two levels of use with Level One tracking whether a position is filled and Level Two recording an encumbrance on the funds in a grant or a department to pay for the employee through the end of their contracted payroll time.

CRM ONLINE DRIVES DYNAMICS GROWTH

MicrosoftDynamics revenue for Microsoft's fiscal year ended June 30 rose 4 percent over 2015 totals. The change was attributed primarily to higher revenue from Dynamics CRM Online which suggests the four financial packages are stagnant, something the last couple of financial reports have indicated. However foreign currency also whacked 6 percent from the category's income.

ORACLE TO PAY $9.3B FOR NETSUITE

Zach Nelson, NetSuite Oracle has agreed to buy NetSuite for a deal valued at about $9.3 billion. Redwood Shores-based Oracle will pay $109 per share in cash in a deal that had the industry rumor mill in high gear for the last few weeks. Oracle CEO Mark Hurd said the company will invest heavily in both product lines. The deal is expected to close this year.

TRAVERSE CLOUD INTRODUCED

Michael Bertini, Open SystemsOpen Systems has released Traverse Cloud, which is hosted in the Microsoft Cloud. The Minneapolis, Minn.-based software company says the new product is a complete ERP system. The company also says Microsoft recently approved it as a Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider. Traverse Cloud has accounting, manufacturing, distribution and verticals.
