TIW Technology. has issued a preview of Alere Business Applications v.12. In its newsletter, the software company also noted it is hiking the price of renewing expired maintenance agreements. Alere v11 launched in March and the newsletter did not give a date for the new edition.

Viewpoint is purchasing Dexter + Chaney, bringing together two veteran construction software companies. Terms were not disclosed. Viewpoint products include Vista, a cloud-based suite for contractors that feature accounting, HR and project management, and ProContractor, estimating, project management, and accounting software, available in both on-premise and cloud versions.

Never missing a chance for broad statements, SAP CEO Bill McDermott described his company this way during the recent second quarter earnings web cast: "SAP is a growth company for the ages," he said. That was on the revenue side. Net after tax profit of about $782 million for the most recently ended quarter was down 18 percent in IFRS terms.

Sage's organic revenue growth was 6.5 percent for the third quarter ended June 30. That was part of the trading update for the quarter issued this week and generally drowned out by the company's announced purchase of Intacct.
VERTEX CHANGES SMB LINE NAME

Vertex has announced what it says is a signification expansion of the capabilities and reach of its cloud platform. The King of Prussia, Pa.-based vendor has also renamed its Vertex SMB line as the Vertex Cloud and apparently changed titles of personnel who have been involved with the SMB unit.
INTACCT, SAGE: AN URGENT DEAL

Until this week, the question seemed to be who would run out of runway first, Sage or Intacct. Sage needed to fill a gap between Sage Live and X-3; Intacct, a lot more revenue. Sage CEO Stephen Kelly said during this week's third-quarter trading update the parties had been talking for a year, reporting Sage convinced Intacct not to go public.
