Based on the headline, this looked promising. But the problem is Exact, which markets the Macola, Globe and Synergy lines, is talking about the fact that it signed 27 of its current resellers to a new reselling program. It had 30 so it's hard to be that impressed. These companies can now carry the label "Certified Partner."

It's been a while since one of these (fill in the blank) wants to acquire Sage news items. This time, SAP is the rumored suitor. I have no idea if this rumor is any more valid than the series we've seen over the years, but there it is. Sometimes I think every time some investors think their Sage stock is a little too low, they start a rumor that someone is going to buy Sage.

David Lahey, who seemed to be assuming an important position at SpeedTax, has left to pursue other interests after serving as VP of sales and marketing since early February. Lahey had been very visible until his sudden departure, and now is listed in that kind of faux title that LinkedIn forces you into as "Accomplished Software Executive with Comprehensive Channel and Global Experience."

Sage reseller Blytheco is on a mini-consolidation kick in the CRM market and just announced its second acquisition of a Sage CRM reseller in two weeks. Last week, Blytheco said it had acquired SFA Technology, a Denver-based SalesLogix reseller.

SpeedTax, the Laguna Hills, Calif.-based sales-and-use tax vendor, has produced an integration of its application with the NetSuite platform. The integration was accomplished by use of NetSuite’s SuiteCloud development platform. The integration between the two Internet-based packages, well, you know the drill, lets NetSuite users handle the variety of sales-and-use tax functions that SpeedTax does for all the other accounting packages for which it has integrations.

Accellos, which makes supply chain execution software, has acquired the assets of Virtual Dispatch, a Stoufville, Ontario-based company that markets on-premise and Internet-based transportation management applications. Accellos said it would integrate some of the acquired assets into its Stratus cloud computing portfolio.

SugarCRM, the open source software company, has introduced Sugar Platform Edition for the OEM market. The new version from the company that has been enlarging its foothold among mid-market ERP resellers is designed to let OEMs incorporate the CRM product's functionality in business suites and vertical applications. Kaseya, which makes IT management applications, has established the Kaseya Third Party Integration Program that enables ISVs to integrate their applications via Kaseya Virtual System Administrator (VSA) as an add-on element by utilizing Kaseya APIs. Integrated products will be featured on Kaseya's website and ISVs have the opportunity to participate in joint sales and marketing activities.

As they said in the old westerns, "It's quiet out there; too quiet." The question is whether Microsoft has something going on in the clouds or is completely clueless about putting its Dynamics ERP packages into a SaaS environment. I have a lot of trouble believing a company that has been this successful is completely clueless, although you can't rule it out.
