SAP's need to rewrite its Business ByDesign user interface because of Microsoft's move away from Silverlight is an issue simmering in the background. But whether it is important or not is disputed by competitors. For rival Intacct, “This is just the latest miss-step in SAP’s journey to the cloud – their poor execution has all been driven by their DNA as direct seller of on-premises software to large enterprises," says Dan Druker, Intacct's VP of marketing

Total compensation for CEO Brad Smith was $11.5 million, down 11.7 percent from $13.9 million for fiscal 2010. Smith lost the most ground on option awards, receiving $1.3 million in that category for fiscal 2011, down from $3.1 million.

An electrical short took down services for Intuit online banking subscribers about two weeks ago. And during the company's recent first-quarter earnings conference call CEO Brad Smith said the electrical problem took out three separate UPS systems and corrupted power, knocking out the failover capability. That lasted several hours. It could just be that since Intuit serves consumers that are vocal, we hear more about outages than we would at another major corporation.

Instead of being held at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami, it is moving to the Gaylord Opryland in Nashville, Tenn., just before Summit, which is scheduled for August 12 through 17. EUROPEAN DYNAMICS VARS IN FLUX

Given that the firm was named to Microsoft’s Inner Circle this year, it’s interesting that the CEO and founder of reseller Norriq has gone out the door this week. The Danish firm has issued a press release stating that the board of directors has dismissed CEO Bo Martinsen. (Bo knows Dynamics?) The company also hired a new CFO for its French business. Norriq is the third important Dynamics reseller in Europe to undergo serious changes. That includes the sale this month of reselling operations by both Qurius and Columbus IT Partner to Prodware. All four companies made the Inner Circle for 2011.
