EXACT SELLING LOHN TO SAGE

Erik van der Meijden, ExactExact continues to clean house with the announcement it will sell Lohn, its Germany-based payroll business to Sage. I said earlier this month that I would be surprised, after the company had decided to dump Longview, if it sold its manufacturing packages but that "Lohn is another story." Lohn just didn’t fit with the its other packages in the Specialized Solutions division, which are three American Manufacturing packages, Macola, Max and JobBoss.

MICROSOFT WORKS CLOUD INTO CHANNEL

Neil Holloway, Microsoft Microsoft says it is integrating into cloud technology into the partner channel, including Dynamics. (And oh yeah, there is that thing about laying off 18,000 people. But until it affects Dynamics, it’s only something to view from afar). This included some steps disclosed at this week’s Worldwide Partner Conference. Laying aside Microsoft’s enthusiasm about its own moves, I’m not sensing a wave of excitement among resellers. But maybe that will change. Among the changes are enhancements to the Readiness Partner Program that Microsoft says it is making to  “increase partner capability, address partner capacity and bring down the cost of training.”

VERTEX OFFERING VARS 25 PERCENT

Alex Solomon, Net@WorkVertex is paying resellers 25-percent commission on sales for the life of those clients that sign up for the Vertex SMB sales tax application. The company, which had been a quiet player in the market until recently, is busy recruiting a channel and aims to use a pay-as-you-go model with no upfront cost to reach small and mid-market businesses. “We are looking at the partners and VAR community as a our primary distribution channel, looking to pay them recurring revenue in perpetuity as clients come  board,” says Bradd Wildstein, director of channel sales. The company had previously announced the signing of McGladrey and Cargas Systems.

EXACT GETS TAKEOVER BIDS

exactExact Holdings has said it has been approached by parties that want to buy all outstanding shares of the ERP software company that is based in Delft, The Netherlands. The company said the prices offered range between 30 to 35 euros per share. The company says it is in engaged in preliminary discussions. There’s not much more that we are likely to learn from Exact until something does, or officially doesn’t happen, with any of the bids. But given the continuing activity of private equity firms, it’s not surprising.

NETSUITE ACQUIRES VENDA

Eric Abensur, VendaNetSuite has acquired Venda, a London, England-based company that markets e-commerce products. Terms were not disclosed. Venda offers the Convergent Commerce Platform as a comprehensive ecommerce platform enabling retailers and brands to deliver a unified experience across online, mobile, social and in-store. Venda’s products can handle multi-lingual and multi-currency needs and the company says it “combines flexibility, reliability and scalability with the operating advantages of an outsourced service.”

HIGHJUMP BUYS ATLAS PRODUCTS

Allan Gray, Atlas Products International On heels of the purchase of HighJump Software by Accellos, the surviving company, now called HighJump, has bought United Kingdom-based-Atlas Products International. Atlas markets EDI and e-invoicing products. The U.K. company’s system is built on the Atlas Exchange, a secure document exchange that provides what is described as a “connect-once, access-all” network for retailers, manufacturers, suppliers and logistics service providers. Terms were not disclosed.

SAP STARTS SMB GROUP

Dean Mansfield, SMBSAP has started the SMB Solutions Group, a division focused on businesses with up to 500 employees. Headed by Dean Mansfield, the group is charged with driving SAP applications based on the company's Hana in-memory database technology into the SMB market. Mansfield also has responsibility for SAP Business One with that line remaining in the Global Partner Operations organization. He plans to accelerate the adoption of a B1 version of Hana and the cloud version of B1.

MCACONNECT TOPS U.S. DYNAMICS CHANNEL

Claude Watson, mcaConnect The award for Dynamics Reseller of the Year for the United States this year went to mcaConnect of Greenwood Village, Colo. The award was announced as Microsoft handed out honors to country winners at the Worldwide Partner Conference that was held this week. Headed by Claude Watson, mcaConnect also won the Dynamics Industry Award, publicized earlier this year. The vendor also unveiled the selection of its Inner Circle for 2014.  Accounting firms did well this year with Armanino, BDO Canada, McGladrey and Sikich making the cut.

Baker Tilly Baker Tilly has received Deltek’s first-ever Partner of the Year award give to one that software company’s GovCon Consulting Partners. In the official words of Reston, Va.-based Deltek, "Baker Tilly was recognized for its positive impact to Deltek’s business and its customers, as well as strong collaboration with Deltek sales and services team." Based in Chicago, Ill., Baker Tilly also was one of four Premier Partners for 2014 in the GovCon area.

SOCIUS ROLLS OUT ISV PROGRAM

sociusDynamics Master VAR Socius has launched the Socius Partner Services ISV Program for its Sales Affiliates. The program enables affiliates to offer ISV products to their customers as well as being able to access to additional sales and technical resources. The program also offers what Socius termed "streamlined ISV-related administrative functions in the areas of quoting, ordering, and renewal services streamlined ISV-related administrative functions in the areas of quoting, ordering, and renewal services."
