FISHBOWL VARS MUST CHOOSE ROLE

Fishbowl Inventory has given its resellers until June 30 to decide where they want to fit in the company's new VAR program. Current participants must choose between working as referring consults or preferred VARs. QURIUS GETS FUNDS, SEEKS NEW DIRECTION

Qurius, one of the top Dynamics VARs in Europe, has struggled through much of the last year. It halted payment on debt last year and then caught up by using proceeds from a subsidiary it sold. And it lost money for 2009. The company has now formed an International Leadership team to design a new strategy.

MICROSOFT MAKES NOISE ABOUT CRM TECH RELEASE

Microsoft has announced the Community Technical Preview 3 for the next version of Dynamics CRM which it code-named CRM 5. I guess there was some cost-cutting involving the group that comes up with code names. The announcement said this is aimed primarily at software developers and after trying to wade through the blogs and videos that it points to for further information, I concluded, "Yeah, it is."

ACCOUNTMATE LAN GOING ANOTHER ROUND

AccountMate is encountering the same phenomenon with its AccountMate LAN product. AccountMate CEO David Dierke said the company was examining the product, thinking it might have run its course. SAGE RAISES $300M IN U.S.

Sage Group, parent to Sage North America, has raised $300 million through an issue of U.S. Private Placement loan notes. It's a refinancing move and the company said the issue would extend maturities of existing debt and diversify sources of funding. Every time I read financial reports from Sage, I'm think for the American system because it always looks the English companies don't have to say a whole lot to the public. Read more...

AZTEC BUYS BTA'S GP BIZ

Aztec Systems, a reseller based in Carrollton, Texas, has acquired the Dynamics GP and infrastructure practice of Austin-based Business Technology Associates. Aztec, which also carries Dynamics NAV, SL and RMS, said the move will increase its Austin footprint. A prepared statement by BTA president Steve Baker said his company will focus on the Infor/SyteLine ERP solution and related consulting and support services.

Navigator Business Solutions has been named as the SAP Business Partner of the Year USA for 2009, as the vendor handed out awards last month. The Canadian top VAR was Montreal-based Forstum Business Solutions. It was the third time Navigator has topped the SAP chart - it also was top partner for 2008 and 2006. Read more...
