NET@WORK BUYS HUCKSTEP

Jeannie Huckstep,  Huckstep & AssociatesSage reseller  Net@Work has entered the nonprofit market with the acquisition of NFP specialist Huckstep & Associates. Based in Springfield, Mo., the latter firm was founded in 1994 by owner, Jeannie Huckstep, who will serve as Net@Work's nonprofit practice director. Terms were not disclosed. The reseller has more than 350 nonprofit and public sector agencies as clients.  In last year's VAR Stars submission, Huckstep reported revenue of $1.45 million and a staff of nine.

NETSUITE REVS UP 32 PERCENT

Zach Nelson, NetSuiteNetSuite revenue boomed for the first quarter ended March 31, hitting $91.6 million, up 32 percent from $69.3 million from the year-earlier period. And in this week’s earnings webcast, CEO Zach Nelson gushed that performance “exceeded our outlook on every measure”. The loss increased to $13 million from $7.7 million and non-GAAP earnings dropped to $2.8 million from $4.1 million for the San Mateo, Calif.-based cloud company. But Wall Street analysts were happy.

ACUMATICA INTROS EDUCATION EFFORT

SaaS company Acumatica has launched Acumatica University, which provides online courses and educational materials. The goal of Acumatica U is to make it easier and faster for the company's channel members to have employees trained and certified on its  products. The courses are being made possible by using the cloud-based learning management system of Litmos as the platform for the university. Read more...

BLYTHECO WRITES SUGAR CONNECTOR

BlythecoBlytheco has introduced the bly:Connector, a tool that integrates Sage 100 with SugarCRM. Blytheco, of course, is Sage’s top North America reseller that early last year got into the cloud, picking up both SugarCRM and the cloud. I don’t know if there’s anything to the timing that Sage sold off SalesLogix and Act and only has SageCRM left in that part of its product arsenal.

INSIDEVIEW NAMES MARKETING OFFICER

 Brian Kelly, InsideViewInsideView, which makes customer intelligence products for B2B marketing and sales, has named Brian Kelly as chief marketing officer. Before joining the San Francisco-based company, Kelly co-founded and was CEO of Stampt, which developed a mobile customer loyalty application. He was also previously CEO of Quantivo Corp. which provides cloud-based big-data analytics. Earlier this month, InsideView announced integration with SugarCRM 7, the latest product from the open source CRM company. InsideView has made a slight run at the midmarket accounting software channel. Last year, it signed Blytheco and BrainSell.

UNIT4 RESULTS UP SLIGHTLY

Edwin van Leeuwen, Unit4Unit4, owns the Agresso and Coda lines, reported a slight increase of EBITDA on a 2-percent rise in revenue for the first quarter ended March 31.  Although growth was slight, CFO Edwin van Leeuwen said in a prepared statement that was a better than expected performance, “since we initially projected that Q1 2013 would end below the same period of last year.” EBITDA rose slightly to $28.6 million while revenue reached about $152.95 million.

TECH ADVISORS TOPS SUGAR CHANNEL

Technology Advisors Technology Advisors was named Most Valued Global Partner by SugarCRM at this month's SugarCon 2013. The Des Plaines, Ill.-based CRM specialist also  pulled down the same title for North America. The other regional winners were Synolia in Europe, Middle East and Africa; GrowIT in Latin America; and CRM Online, in the Asia Pacific Sugar also handed out technology awards with the titles of two requiring spelling out exactly what they are for. BAASS ENTERS U.S. WITH AXIS DEAL

 Manny Buigas, Axis Global PartnersSage reseller Baass Business Solutions, which has been on the grow in Canada, moved into the United States with the acquisition of Miami-based Axis Global Partners. By picking up Axis, Toronto-based Baass also enters the Caribbean and Latin American markets. Earlier this year, Baass folded in Equation Technologies, based in Richmond Hill, Ontario. In mid-1912, Baass took over CA-Plus, which had offices in Toronto and Edmonton.

ASIA PACIFIC DAMPENS SAP RESULTS

 Bill McDermott, SAPManagement changes in the Asia Pacific region tripped up SAP for the first quarter ended March 31. But the giant software company still saw a double-digit increase in net income and what was described as its best first-quarter ever.. After-tax profit rose to about $706 million, a 17-percent increase over last year’s corresponding period. Revenue rose to roughly $4.7 billion, a 7-pecent rise. There were three management changes in Asian countries coupled with a slowdown in purchases in China. However, Co-CEO Bill McDermott said the company had confidence in the top management in the region.
