ADP SELLS TAXWARE

WINDOWS PHONE STRIKES OUT AT SYNERGY

iPhone artAccountants are known for conservatism. So a show of hands at a session about mobile devices at the Thomson Reuters Synergy conference this week should be interpreted with that in mind. And in a session with about 80 attendees, not one person admitted to having a Windows Phone.

COLUMBUS HAS STRONG 3Q

Thomas  Honore, ColumbusColumbus, a Dynamics reseller based in Denmark, turned in a good performance for the third quarter ended September 30. The company reported EBIDTA of about $600,000 for the most recently ended period, up 250 percent over last year’s corresponding period.

SOCIUS SIGNS AFFILIATE

Socius logoSocius, one of Microsoft's Master VARs, has signed the Accounting and Association Software Group, as an affiliate. AASG,  based in the Sacramento, Calif., area, has been selling Dynamics GP since 1992 and is headed by president Pilar Archer. By my count, this is the eighth affiliate signed by Dublin, Ohio-based Socius which means it is behind the SBS Group, which has signed more than a dozen and ahead of Tribridge has signed one.

ITA'S EAGLE TO ADVISE AVALARA

Ron Eagle, AvalaraRon Eagle, who just concluded 15 years as president of the Information Technology Alliance, will serve as a strategic advisor to Avalara. He will function within Avalara’s Accounting & Advisory Services Program. The company said adding the role coincides with its international expansion. Eagle has led ITA since it evolved from the former Acute, which had been a user group of accountants that used IBM products. Read more...

CANADIANS TOP EPICOR AWARDS

Epicor logoResellers based in Canada performed well in the recent channel awards from Epicor with all three Sales Certified Gold awards going to VARs north of the border. The three organizations in this category include EC Solutions of Laval, Quebec, and Six S Partners of Waterloo, Ontario. The third member of the category Evron Computer Systems of Markham, Ontario, also sells a broad Sage line that features BusinessVision, and PFW.

PRODWARE BUYS ALL QURIUS UNITS

qurius logoProdware, a French Dynamics reseller, has acquired all of the operating companies of Qurius, the Netherlands Dynamics  reselling company that has been liquidating its operations. With conditions in Europe weak, Qurius started on a steep downward slide when it found its German operations were unraveling and it dismissed its director there.

COLUMBUS SELLS DUTCH UNIT

Columbus logoColumbus, a Dynamics reseller based in Denmark, has sold its operations in the Netherlands to Abecon. The sale came as the two parties entered a three-year franchisee agreement. Under what was termed a global implementation alliance, Abecon was designed the “preferred partner and franchise taker for Columbus in the Benlux”. Despite the cheery language, this looks like the latest in a string of countries that Columbus, formerly known as Columbus IT Partner, has exited in the past three years.
