CHANGE SWEEPS X3 STRUCTURE

Stephen Kelly, SageYou have to give Sage CEO Steve Kelly a lot of credit for making things happen in his year on the job. And the change in the structure of the company's X3 program is striking, even if a lot of it has not been discussed publicly. But this year, there has been startling number of people in new positions—both new hires and promotions of Sage employees. There are "lots of changes and more coming including reorganizing the sales team, redefining roles, new roles, and aggressive growth aspirations," said one reseller, who did not wish to be quoted publicly.

X3 CYCLE, CLOUD CUTS SWK REVS

Jeff Roth, SWK TechnologiesThe switch to the cloud and the emphasis on Sage X3 has cut into revenue of SWK Technologies. The reseller's parent, SilverSun Technologies, reported this week a sharp drop in product revenue and net income for the third quarter ended September 30. Net income for the most recently ended period was $16,464, down sharply from $248,165 a year ago. Revenue rose to $7.2 million, an increase of 18.3 percent from slightly more than $6.1 million in last year's corresponding period.

OPEN SYSTEMS' KOLKER JOINS INTACCT

Linda Kolker, IntacctLinda (Shillingburg) Kolker, a veteran of the channel and the nonprofit market, has joined Intacct after nearly 11 years with Open Systems. Kolker's move to the San Jose, Calif.-based cloud vendor was announced in the last few weeks although her LinkedIn profile shows she took on the new job as channel executive in July. Kolker was regional VP of sales with Open Systems from November 2004 through February 2010.

Jim Scott, SageSage has chosen a number of new global executives. And the lesson is it helps to have a British accent, with some French natives around for spice. So the reports that recently departed EVP of global brand experience Gabrielle Boko will not be replaced in the United States fit with the unannounced pattern—and thank you LinkedIn bios. Promoted in October was Nick Goode (London) to the position of global VP for cloud product management with responsibility for Sage Live and Sage One, accountants apps and UX.

INTUIT'S STRANGE SILENCE ON PROTAX

Brad Smith, IntuitWhile Intuit's ProTax operations are not the normal purview of this publication, their presence impacts all of the company. Intuit does not talk much about this highly profitable business in which it holds the major share of the professional preparer market. Intuit has not published a press release about its ProTax products—Intuit Online, Pro Series, Intuit Tax Online—on its website since March 2013. Analysts say that they have trouble getting any information on these operations. "It's not just you," one commented.

SYSPRO USA NAMES CFO

SysproSyspro USA has named Doug Garnhart as CFO, a new position for the Costa Mesa, Calif.-based operation. Garnhart's job history includes his role as principal at DLF Consulting since November 2010. His LinkedIn resume shows that he held short-term positions at companies ranging from small to larger. These include INOVx Solutions, Outsell and Bersin by Deloitte. A spokesman says the creation of the new position reflects growth. The function had also been handled among different members of staff.

HOUILLON INVESTS IN PAYMENTS BIZ

Pascal Houillon, ClearnoxPascal Houillon, ushered out of his position as CEO of Sage North America, has become active in a French company designed to provide cloud-based digital payments. Houillon has become an investor and chairman of the strategic committee of Clearnox, which is described as providing the services to small and mid-size businesses. "The goal is to confirm the success of the solution in mainland Europe then I will find a Private Equity firm to finance the expansion of the company to the U.S. market," Houillon said in a LinkedIn message regarding his activities.

ACQUISITIONS LIFT COLUMBUS

Thomas Honoré, ColumbusThe purchases of two resellers in the United States and a consulting organization in Denmark this year boosted results for Columbus for the third quarter ended September 30. The Danish Dynamics VAR pointed to this year's pick up of InterDyn BMI and Sherwood Systems, along with the acquisition of MW Data in its home country the major factors in the uptick. For the year-do-date, profit after tax hit about $4.9 million, an increase of 13 percent from the prior year.

ACCOUNTMATE HONORS A.K.A.'S KLEYFF

The recognition was given to Kleyff, who has sold AccountMate since 1996, as the software publisher handed out its Achievement awards for the year at its recent reseller Roundtable. CEO David Dierke cited Kleyff's use of vertical products to service clients. The Director of Sales Award went to Tim Olson of BITTT Enterprises of Naperville, Ill.
