David LaheyDavid Lahey, an accounting software veteran, had taken a position as VP of Customer Success at Jobvite, a start-up which has social recruiting features.  Lahey was most recently EVP of sales and marketing at SpeedTax, the sales-and-use software tax company, but left abruptly after nine months there. Didn't this used to be called a pre-announcement?  That's what Microsoft has done in publicizing the fact that it will issue Dynamics GP 2010 R2 in March, although I'm not sure what to call these kind of statements when the press release also includes information about the companies that have been successfully using the product. AVALARA TAPS EPICOR VET

Sales-and-use-tax vendor Avalara has named Kevin Riegelsberger, best known in the accounting profession from his years at Epicor, as its president and chief operating officer. Riegelsberger was most recently CEO of Estorian, which provides applications for mainframe storage applications. TRIBRIDGE TALKS ABOUT GROWTH PLANS

Tribridge, Microsoft's worldwide partner of the year for 2010, has signaled its plans to acquire other resellers with capital it has secured through equity funding from LLR Partners.  The press release announcing the investment doesn't mention the amount raised, apparently the $24 million that was the subject of an SEC filing in September. PLUMBLINE GOES INTO DYNAMICS AX

Dynamics AX logoPlumbline Solutions, originally formed as the outsourced developer of Dynamics SL applications, has been shifting its direction. Havng previously added work on Dynamics GP, it has begun providing services for Dynamics AX. The announcement of the AX expansion came in a press release in August, although I didn’t find it in what was then a very bland website and which has now become a (comparatively) more colorful,  appealing site.

NETSUITE: REORG UPPED RETENTION

NetSuite says a reorganization of the sales force that addressed its installed base, coupled with a change in the compensation plan, has significantly improved customer retention this year. The statement came from CFO Ron Gill this week when he addressed a Wells Fargo Securities Technology, Media and Telecom conference. Read more...

THE STATE OF DYNAMICS GP

The vibes on Dynamics GP have not been good for a couple of years.  It has especially been subject to complaints that Microsoft had authorized far too many dealers and that they weren't always that good. The other criticism goes back to the origins at Great Plains, the complaint that too many functions have to be added by third-party products. Read more...

KASEYA ACQUIRES OBJACCT ACCOUNTING

KaseyaKaseya, which has made its name in IT systems management, has acquired most of the assets of ObjAcct Inc., which makes the ObjAcct XML Accounting Suite. ObjAcct was founded by Solomon and SaaS veteran Lee Mellinger, who has joined Kaseya as SVP of the Financials Division. The accounting suite will be integrated into Kaseya's systems and service management platform, which Kaseya said would make it easy for IT professionals to capture and monetize costs associated with the delivery of IT services.

SAP GIVES MILD REFUTATION TO NETSUITE

Zach NelsonDuring his company's earnings Webcast this month, NetSuite CEO Zach Nelson went after the market status of SAP's Business By Design (as he often does).  I held off the publishing these comments until I could get an SAP response. In answer to an analyst's question, Nelson commented, "It's being seen a lot in SAP shops and divisions of SAP shops. ... I don't really believe it's in production. ... While they may be showing it, I don't think they are selling a lot of it. ... I think we’ll see it in actual production next year." Read more...
