SUGARCRM FOR IPHONE DEBUTS

SugarCRM has introduced a native iPhone application as an enhancement to Sugar 6 CRM and which is bundled with the Sugar Enterprise edition. During an introductory period, the new application is free to users of the Sugar Professional edition. It can be downloaded from the Apple iTunes AppStore and can be customized via the SugarCRM Mobile Studio administration panel. Free trials of SugarCRM Professional can be launched from the iPhone versions.

SAP finally released the names of resellers it has signed for France, Germany and the United States. But other than providing info for those interested in the overseas channel, most of the U.S. names have been known for a few months. These include Arxis Technology, based in Simi Valley, Calif.; Navigator Business Solutions of Salt Lake City; and Vision33 of Irvine, Calif.

Atlanta area-based Ibis, one of Microsoft’s truly award-winning VARs, has become a member of Partner Power, an international organization that offers Dynamics AX/NAV and CRM.It also markets more than 70 vertical packages. Ibis joins three other U.S. dealers that are part of Partner Power. Although Intuit made a brief effort at explaining how its QuickBooks market share dropped during to 87 percent for the first quarter ended October 31 from 94 percent at the end of the fourth quarter, a lot more detail came out this week. Intuit says it wasn’t a matter of competitors (meaning essentially Peachtree) selling that much more. Intuit sold 30,000 less units than it did a year earlier. Read more...

Resellers for Sage North America have been talking much of the year about the upcoming release of Accpac 6.0, code name Orion, which appears to be one of the most strategic software moves coming from the organization over the next year or two. Sage released a few details in response to a request for its comment on a NetSuite press releases, issued this week, about the number of Sage customers it had converted. SugarCRM has added global, mobile and social features to its CRM suite, including a native iPhone application that the company says provides strong customization capabilities. Sugar Mobile for iPhone is available for all Professional and Enterprise Edition customers and can be downloaded from the Apple Appstore.

Microsoft's new approach to renewing maintenance and support contracts is producing a lot of unhappiness among Dynamics resellers. As part of a new channel program, it is rewarding VARs for increasing remewals. But the sore point is Microsoft's decision to renew end user contracts automatically 20 days before they expire, if they have not already been extended. The dealer gets billed for the renewal and if the customer drops maintenance, it's the dealer who faces the paper work to reverse the charge.

INTUIT EXECS GET HEFTY PAY RAISES

Intuit gave executives hefty compensation increases for the year ended July 31, bringing them closer to their 2008 earnings. And CEO Brad Smith had a very good year as his $13.9 million in total compensation more than tripled what he got in 2009. That total compared to $3.7 million last year and $11.6 million in fiscal 2008. Smith had the same $800,000 base salary as in 2009. But he had $8.5 million in stock awards, compared to just over $2 million in 2009 and $4.9 million in 2008.

NETSUITE HACKS AT SAGE BASE

NetSuite, never shy about trash talking, said that more than 500 companies have switched from Sage's business products to NetSuite. The Internet-based company didn’t spell out a time frame (this year, since NetSuite started, since the last Ice Age?), but apparently the numbers claimed are worldwide as it mentions the U.S.-based MAS line and the English Line 50 and Line 500.
