SWK JOINS X3 CHANNEL

The reseller channel for Sage X3 ERP is starting to take shape as SWK Technologies of Livingston, N.J., became the latest reseller to sign on for the high-end manufacturing product. It joined the channel for the software product after hiring two managers from a nearby office of Nextec, which also picked up X3. SWK also has offices in Connecticut and upstate New York. The X3 reseller body count for the moment also includes Blytheco and Atlanta-based Software Link in the United States. Read more...

DELTEK ENDS YEAR ON UPTICK

Even with revenue down, Deltek was happy with results for 2009 as the fourth quarter showed signs that some of its markets were awakening. The company, whose software is designed for project-based clients, closed out the year on December 31 with net income of $7.2 million, up 19.6 percent from $6.1 million a year earlier. Read more...

ACCELLOS BUYS VSYNC

Accellos, which markets applications in the areas of logistics, warehouse, and transportation, has acquired Columbus, Ohio-based vSync. VSync provides EDI and shipping programs for Dynamics GP and AX. Terms of the acquisitions were not disclosed. Accellos will continue to market the vSync line as a component of Accellos One, a supply chain execution suite for small to mid-sized businesses. JOB SIMPLICITY LAUNCHED FOR LOW-END BUILDING MARKET

HomeFront Software, based in Calgary, Alberta, has introduced Job Simplicity, a construction software application that is designed for small commercial and residential builders. The company said the system integrates with QuickBooks, Simply and Sage Quantum. The company said the goal is to provide small builders with tools for estimating, scheduling, and job costing without forcing users to leave the low-cost packages from the other vendors.

AICPA TOP TEN TECHOLOGIES MAY BE HISTORY

The Top Ten Technologies picked by the American Institute of CPAs is normally announced in January. But this year, the selection, if it has been made, was delayed by the resignation of Mark Mayberry, the BDO Seidman partner who chaired the committee. Officially, the results are supposed to be released after April 15. But the AICPA is weighing the possibility of changing the format. The list has always had the problem that what appeals to corporate and public CPAs are not the same issues and the possibility of picks for all areas of AICPA membership is under consideration. But from a media point of view, I think it would be unwise to have more than one list. It may make sense in mirroring membership interests. But from a public relations point of view, having one Top Ten list is a lot more appealing to media that does not deal routinely with accountants. And outside of a handful of organizations, that's most of the media. I think the exposure will drop if more than one list is released. Read more...

EXACT TARGETS PSA MARKET; RESULTS DROP

Rajesh PatelExact, as it released results for 2009, outlined areas for growth, including the professional services application market. That was one of four areas in which the Dutch company invested last year, according to CEO Rajesh Patel. The company is moving into that market by building PSA functionality into Synergy Enterprise.

COUGAR ROLLS OUT DENALI 2.8

Cougar Mountain Software has introduced Denali 2.8, a version of its newest product line that can convert CMS Professional data. Data from any Windows Version of CMS can be converted, as can data from the DOS 15.0 version. The system has a 64-bit compatibility and can also run on a 32-bit system. Denali 2.8 provides what was called improved integration with CMS Professional Payroll. Users can import AP, bank reconciliation and GL data into Denali after posting transactions and exporting payroll data. Read more...

EPICOR HAPPY WITH QUARTER

Epicor had such a good period for the fourth quarter ended December 31 that CEO George Klaus forgot to declare that Epicor is totally focused on direct sales.
