CYMA V. 13.5 RELEASED

CYMA Cyma Systems has released version 13.5 with enhancements with payroll including a new Staffing module. Staffing features a Work Order screen that acts as an entry for new jobs and dashboard of activities and employees for open jobs. The new application is aimed at serving temporary staffing companies and other organizations that place and bill employees.

PRIVATE EQUITY GUY NAMED SAGE CFO

Steve Hare, Apax PartnersIn a move that ought to stir discussion, the Sage Group has named Steve Hare, most recently operating partner at Apax Partners, as CFO. The appointment is effective January 3 when he replaces Paul Harrison, who left in September after 16 years at Sage. Hare has more than 10 years of experience as a CFO, so we probably should not dwell too much on the fact that Apax is the company that bought Epicor Software and Activant Solutions and welded them together under the name Epicor.

NETSUITE OFFERS CERTIFICATION

NetSuite has started the NetSuite ERP Consultant Certification Program. The cloud company also plans to introduce other certification programs. Certification involves passing two examinations about baseline and advanced knowledge of NetSuite implementation and best practices. The company says two years of experience in NetSuite implementations is an appropriate background for passing the exams.

RECKON ONE SITE GOES LIVE

The applications is marketed by Reckon, based in McMahons Point, New South Wales, Australia. There has been no statement it will be introduced in the United States. But there must be something to gain in scale by utilizing more of the data centers needed to support these systems.

SAGE 1 ACCOUNTANTS EDITION ON WAY

Mike Savory, SageSage is introducing an accountants edition of its cloud-based Sage One financial application. The product introduction accompanies Sage's ramping up its efforts with accountants. "We are putting together a group for accountants specifically for Sage One," says Mike Savory, manager of product management for the Internet-based application. While Sage has long had the Sage Accountants Network, there will be a new group, although it will operate within SAN.

INTACCT NAMES CLA TOP PARTNER

IntacctCliftonLarsonAllen has been named Intacct Partner of the Year at the company's recent conference. We could put this on a stamp since the Minneapolis-based CPA firm got the same award In 2012. Intacct, which offers cloud based computing, gives the partner of the year award to the top player in its entire channel, while handing out separate awards for the top reseller and the top participant in its accounting outsourcing program.

EXACT EBITDA RISES

Erik van der Meijden, ExactExact didn't return to revenue growth. But it did slow the decline and posted a double-digit increase in EBITDA for the third quarter ended September 30. The Netherlands-based company reported EBITDA of about $12.8 million, a 42 percent-increase from last year's corresponding period. Revenue dropped to just over $70 million, a .9 decline from a year earlier. It 's probably fair to say the situation was actually better since revenue was up 1.7 percent in constant currencies.

MICROSOFT COMP CHANGE IMPACTS COLUMBUS

ColumbusMicrosoft's new sales model cut into revenue for Dynamics reseller, Columbus, for the third quarter ended September 30. But the Copenhagen, Denmark-based company posted a 59-percent growth in EBITDA for the most recently ended period. EBITDA hit about $1.2 million in the period just ended. First-quarter revenue of about $32.9  million was about six-tenths of a percent higher than in last year's corresponding period.

NET@WORK HIRES SALES DIRECTOR

Anne Brennan, Net@WorkNew York Sage reseller Net@Work has hired Anne Brennan as director of sales for business applications. She was previously VP of business development for RKL eSolutions, joining that organization after it purchased her company Waterview Information in October 2010. Brennan will team with Seth Ellertson, director of client care and installed base sales, and also with Tom Miller, who leads Net@Work's Partner Development Practice.

SAP: SOUTH AMERICAN CHANNEL, A MODEL

Kevin Gilroy, SAPSAP says it wants to use its channel program in South America as a model for what it could be doing in North America. That would fit my view over the last two years that the channel in the United States got bogged down in the mud after a promising start. "We are trying to leverage some best practices," says John Graham, head of ecosystems and channels for SAP Americas.
