NEW YORK - Net@Work, one of Sage's largest accounting software resellers, has acquired the Sage accounting software and CRM practice of Solution Strategists, a reseller based in Cranford, N.J. Solution Strategists' owner Art Nathan said he made the sale so he could spend more time with his family.

HERNDON, Va. - Deltek has named Jim Dellamore, most recently SVP of global solutions delivery at GXS, to the position vacated on Thursday by Richard Lowenstein. Dellamore will be responsible for the strategic and operational direction of Deltek’s Global Services organization and will report to Deltek CEO Kevin Parker.

Before working at GXS, Dellamore served as group VP consulting at Oracle Corp., where he managed the PeopleSoft consulting business. Deltek, which markets financial software for project-oriented organizations, said Lowenstein's departure was not related to disagreement with senior management or with Deltek's business strategy or operating policies. Lowenstein joined Deltek as EVP of professional services in June 2006

CCH GETS ORACLE AND SAP ENTRY POINTS

CCH, a stalwart supplier in the traditional tax and accounting market, is pushing upward to a less-traditional area with its sales-and-use-tax systems. In announcements seven days apart, the Riverwoods, Ill.-based vendor said that CCH Sales Tax Office 2.0 has been certified by SAP for integration with SAP ERP and that it had partnered with Global Tax Management which is providing the middleware for CCH CorpSystem to enable Oracle to communicate with the CCH suite in real time.

SAP SAYS BUSINESSBYDESIGN ON SCHEDULE

An SAP executive said this week that his company's high-profile BusinessByDesign product is on schedule. That was the view expressed by Bill McDermott, a member of SAP's executive board in a presentation at the 2009 Citi Technology Conference. In a recorded session, McDermott said, "We are working with 100 clients now, called charter clients. All is going according to plan."
XONITEK RAMPS UP IN EUROPE

Xonitek, an Exact Software reseller based in New York, has revved up its European operations. Two years ago, it shut down its business in Southampton, England, but kept its Warsaw, Poland, location going. Earlier this year, it moved back into England, establishing an office in Peterborough and has since opened one in Amsterdam. President Joseph Paris said the company plans an office in Frankfurt, Germany, in the fourth quarter. Xonitek also handles software from Pronto, an Australian ERP vendor that in June announced plans to expand its Pronto-XI software into markets worldwide. It named Chad Gates as research and development manager to head the strategic development of the product line.

Another across-the-pond report so that you can compare notes: K3 Business Technology Group, a United Kingdom-based company that specializes in Syspro, reported operating profit of $1.1 million for the half ended June 30, down from about $2 million for last year’s corresponding period. Revenue for the half was $26.5 million down 7 percent from roughly $28.4 million. The percentage change was based on calculations in euros. Those results, according to an official statement, beat budget and the company believes manufacturers are continuing to invest in ERP products. K3 is based in Manchester, England, but a significant portion of its sales comes from the Netherlands. The group also operates K3 Retail, which markets the Dynamics retail product line and the company also sells Dynamics CRM. K3 noted it continues to seek complementary acquisitions.

The more I learn about Versata, the company that acquired ERP vendor Everest Software in August, the more it reminds me of Infor, although Versata is nowhere Infor's size. Both have built themselves through of purchases of specialized companies, although unlike Infor, Versata's subsidiaries continue to operate under their prior names with their own Web pages.

Face with June brides and June grads, Open Systems decided June was not the time for its annual reseller and user conferences and has scheduled both for September 2010. A spokesperson said the change reflected a survey of attendees. The new time slot will continue this year's schedule of having the reseller conference, Partners in Profit, followed immediately by the user get together, the Customer Excellence conference. The reseller conference will be held September 20-21 next year and the customer conference September 22-23, both in Las Vegas.

Exact Software is giving manufacturers the chance to lease its full JobBoss shop management and control application. What's interesting as the market turns to subscription pricing for online applications, is that this is leasing of an old-fashioned desktop package (Stone-Age software as our friends at NetSuite would call it).

CDC SOFTWARE GOES PUBLIC; BUYS SHARES

This may be some kind of record in the IPO world. CDC Software had its initial public offering on August 6. On September 8, it announced a purchase of American Depository Shares. Management had already begun purchasing ADS at an average price per share of roughly $8.33 starting on August 13. The company issued a statement that it believes its shares are undervalued, especially since it had reported a 311 percent in improvement in operating cash flow and had improved margins to 27 percent for the second quarter ended June 30, compared to 17 percent a year earlier. The company's former parent, CDC Corp., still owns the bulk of the stock. CDC Software's products include Ross Systems and Pivotal.
