The coronavirus pandemic has put businesses, both small and large, under untold pressure never experienced before. Although the pandemic has ripped many industries apart, it has also come as a blessing in disguise. It enabled many companies to develop efficient, digital means of operating and leveraging on the power of AI and automation. Although there were many promises made about the potential of AI for more than 50 years, these promises are now being delivered finally with COVID-19 acting as a catalyst.

Although many people doubted the benefits of artificial intelligence (AI) before, this technology has proven to be capable of giving more than what many had expected.  One of the areas that appear to reap the most out of the advancement of AI is the employment sector. This comes in as the world races to contain the spread of the COVID-19 by enforcing social distancing modes such as working from home. Throughout this period, remote work and work from home have become the leading area of conversation across the industries. The availability of technology such as Zoom and the advancement of AI and virtual reality have made it more viable for different companies to adopt new means of working while the coronavirus pandemic has acted as a catalyst for this change.

What was once just a figment of fiction and stories in movies, artificial intelligence (AI), has now made way in our everyday lives. AI is evolving — literally from what it once was to something much greater than what many anticipated. The evolution is made possible by a software that borrows concepts from the Darwinian theory of evolution whose basis is on survival for the fittest. This software improves the software without any human input. This is a result of years of hard work and research in AI, which scientists believe could lead to the discovery of higher quality AI in the future.
