Dynamics AX customers will get a chance to use Avalara's sales-and-use tax rates for free under an agreement between that company and Microsoft.  AX customers are able to download Avalara's tax tables once for free for all company locations. However, if they want to update the rates, then they have to sign up for the Avalara service and pay.  The cloud-based AvaTax manages the sales tax process for AX users, including calculation, reporting, filing and maintenance. Avalara's integrations for Dynamics AX, GP and NAV have received the Certified for Microsoft Dynamics designation.
