Gillis ended up in the Hitachi system when it acquired his company, Iteration2, which he ran from January 2004 through April 2007. He was then an SVP with Hitachi Consulting until March 2012. He then moved to a more autonomous unit where he worked from April 2012 through July 2016. The Gillis Company's description of itself on LinkedIn says its areas of business are "Digital Transformation, Mergers and Acquisitions, Microsoft Dynamics, and Enterprise Software." The descriptions add up to consulting in the Dynamics market.

Mike Gillis, who led the Dynamics reselling arm of Hitachi, has started the Gillis Company, based in Irvine, Calif. Gillis spent more than 12 years in the Dynamics reselling business and left Hitachi Solutions America, Business Solutions Group in July.
