Vertex has hired Bob Holt as channel sales manager. Holt joined the sales tax software company in August at a time when it is ramping up activity in the midmarket.

Avalara has certified 34 companies whose products meet the sales-and-use tax company’s requirements for integration. The company says there are now more than 600 pre-built integrations with a wide variety of business applications.

Avalara lost $17.8 million for the second quarter ended June 30, 39 percent more than the  $15.4 million in red ink prior year. Revenue for the most recently ended quarter was $63.7 million, rising 25 percent from $50.9 million a year ago.
